E-scooters at Bus Stops and on StarMetro Vehicles
Enjoy the convenience of using an E-scooter to and from StarMetro bus stops to bridge the gap between your public transit experience and your destination.
Before using an E-scooter and any StarMetro service, here are some important things you need to know:
- Only E-scooters that can be folded up and safely secured are permissible on StarMetro vehicles.
- E-scooters must not block aisles, doors, occupy patron seating, interfere with other patrons, or cause a tripping hazard.
- E-scooters are NOT permissible on StarMetro vehicles if they operate using a lead-acid battery or fuel.
- E-scooters must be powered off while on the StarMetro vehicle.
- The customer is responsible for folding, carrying and maintaining the E-scooter. For safety reasons, operators are not able to assist with loading the E-scooter on or off the vehicle or removing from roadways, bus shelters or facilities.
- Customers with non-permissible E-scooters should be prepared to board StarMetro vehicles without their E-scooters. The E-scooter should be left within the established guidelines. Those guidelines are as follows:
- E-scooters should be parked upright at all times.
- Never leave E-scooters in the roadway or StarMetro vehicle pull off area.
- Maintain a minimum of a four-foot pedestrian path on sidewalks and accessibility in and out of bus stops, shelters and benches.
- Make sure to NEVER block sidewalks, fire hydrants, curb ramps, parking spaces, handicap accessible areas (ramps, parking spots, etc.), street furniture such as benches, parklets, trash and recycling receptacles, parking meters, nor business or residential entryways.
- E-scooters are not allowed to be transported on the bike racks on the front of the buses as the racks are not equipped to safely transport them.
- E-scooters that are co-located at bus stops or shelters shall be properly stored to maintain ADA compliance for StarMetro customers and are the sole responsibility of the vendor and customer, not StarMetro.
- E-scooters may be carried/walked onto StarMetro property (including C.K. Steele Bus Plaza, the StarMetro Administrative Offices and all bus stops and shelters) but not operated within the property.
- StarMetro is not liable for damage to the E-scooter or caused by the E-scooter.
- E-scooters left at bus stops, shelters, benches, roadways and otherwise unsecured should be reported to the vendor or 850-891-RIDE (7433).
- E-scooters and riders must abide by all applicable federal, state and local codes, rules and regulations.
